In the mid-1980s, Lee and Pat Cooper left California to return to New England — settling on 3.5 wooded acres in Harvard, MA, to build the log cabin Lee had long dreamed of. What they didn’t plan on was the poison ivy.
Lee, a scientist by training, refined a method to safely eliminate it from their property. At 17, inspired by his father’s success, Dan founded Coopers Poison Ivy Service — Massachusetts’ very first poison ivy eradication service.

Urushiol transfers easily. Skin, clothing, shoes, tools, sports equipment, and pets can all carry the oil and expose you for up to 12 months after the original contact.

Wash exposed skin immediately with cold water and soap — cold water keeps pores closed. Wash potentially exposed clothing and tools separately as soon as possible.
Urushiol can stay active for up to 12 months on objects like shoes, tools, clothing, and toys. If not washed off properly, it can transfer to your skin long after the original exposure.
